FM Engages with Egyptian Community in Addis Ababa

Addis ababa: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty reiterated the government's commitment to providing the utmost care for Egyptians abroad. He highlighted the dedication of diplomatic missions to offering accessible consular services and enhancing continuous communication with the Egyptian expatriates.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the top diplomat made these remarks during his meeting with members of the Egyptian community in Addis Ababa. The meeting, which took place on Sunday, February 15, 2026, was part of efforts to maintain direct communication with Egyptians abroad, allowing them to share their opinions and suggestions.

Abdelatty expressed appreciation for the role played by Egyptians in the African Union and Ethiopia, and detailed the state's initiatives aimed at supporting Egyptians abroad. These initiatives cover areas such as housing, investment, education, and the facilitation of consular services.

He also highlighted the support provided by national entities to strengthen connections between Egyptians abroad and their homeland through initiatives like "Your Home in Egypt," "Your Farm in Egypt," "Open Your Account in Egypt," and insurance for Egyptians abroad. Additionally, there are initiatives targeted at the youth.

The minister outlined efforts to promote digital transformation and develop consular services. He referred to various initiatives launched by the ministry in collaboration with state institutions to ease the lives of Egyptians abroad and improve service quality, which reflects the state's priority on safeguarding the interests of its citizens overseas.

Abdelatty also took the opportunity to learn about the conditions of the Egyptian community, listening to their opinions and suggestions for improving services offered to them.
