Cairo:Egypt has successfully attracted approximately $18 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) during the fiscal year 2025/2026, as announced by Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid Saleh. This development is part of Egypt's ongoing efforts to enhance its investment climate.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Saleh emphasized the significance of supporting the private sector, boosting export-oriented production, and localizing technology at the Egypt Forum 2026. The forum, themed 'Toward Productive Investment, Competitive Industry and Sustainable Jobs,' served as a platform for these discussions.
The Ministry's strategy is focused on incentivizing sectors that generate greater added value, with aims to deepen local manufacturing, increase exports, and develop domestic supply chains. These efforts are intended to improve the international competitiveness of Egyptian products and stimulate economic activity across regions.
Minister Saleh also underscored the importance of digital transformation in government services, highlighting the upgrade of the Entities platform to streamline investor procedures and reduce bureaucracy. Additionally, the Ministry is developing a digital platform to expedite the approval process for capital increases, thereby enhancing efficiency.
Efforts to broaden company ownership and expand private-sector involvement are seen as crucial for sustainable economic growth. The Ministry is also engaging with export councils to identify challenges and enhance foreign trade competitiveness. A Foreign Trade Information Portal has been launched to assist exporters in identifying market opportunities.
The Ministry plans to establish an export council for services to facilitate market access for Egyptian services. The next phase will involve coordinated efforts to increase investment, production, and exports, aiming to build a competitive production and export base while creating sustainable job opportunities.
