Cairo:Egypt's Ministry of Education and Technical Education is set to transform 20 technical schools into specialized applied technology schools, focusing on nursing, elderly care, and information technology, with the support of Japan. This initiative was formalized through an executive plan signed by Education and Technical Education Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif and Hidetaka Matsuo, CEO of the Kyoto Ikueikan educational group.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the agreement follows a meeting between the Minister and the Japanese group's CEO, where they discussed the implementation steps and preparations for launching the schools. The transformation is part of a broader effort to develop technical education in Egypt and align graduates' skills with labor market demands.
Minister Abdel Latif emphasized the Ministry's dedication to enhancing cooperation with Japan and leveraging its expertise in integrating high-quality education, discipline, and practical training. He stated that the Ministry will coordinate with the Japanese group to ensure the successful upgrade of the schools and achieve the project's objectives. Abdel Latif described the initiative as a significant advancement in technical education, aiming to establish a leading educational and training model for potential expansion across Egypt and the Middle East.
Hidetaka Matsuo expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the group's commitment to applying its 40 years of educational experience to support technical education in Egypt. The model aims to combine academic knowledge with practical training and professional and language skills. Matsuo hopes the initiative's first phase will succeed and expand, creating more opportunities for young people in Egypt and abroad.
Discussions during the meeting also covered preparations for the schools' launch, including their locations, management, and operation, as well as the selection and training of teachers and school leaders. The executive plan outlines the responsibilities of both parties in developing and operating the schools, following a cooperation agreement reached during Minister Abdel Latif's recent visit to Japan.
