Cairo: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's keenness to strengthen cooperation with foreign companies to attract further investments, particularly in the fields of green hydrogen and its derivatives. The minister made the remarks on Friday during a meeting in New Delhi with Sanjay Nagrare, the President of Ocior Energy Holding Ltd. Abdelatty highlighted Egypt's National Green Hydrogen Strategy, announced in August 2024, which aims to diversify sources of clean and sustainable energy and reduce carbon emissions in line with international commitments.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the minister stressed the Egyptian government's commitment to removing any obstacles facing investors in this sector. He reviewed Egypt's efforts to become a hub for green hydrogen production, noting the launch of the Global Renewable Hydrogen Forum by Egypt and Belgium on the sidelines of COP27. The forum serves as a platform to bring together stakeholders and facilitate the production and use of renewable hydrogen to support carbon emissions reduction.
The minister emphasized the importance of cooperation between the Indian company and Egypt's New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) to assess available investment opportunities and identify suitable locations for renewable energy projects. He welcomed the company's interest in establishing a green hydrogen and green ammonia production project in Egypt powered by solar and wind energy.
Abdelatty also outlined the incentives Egypt offers to investors, including a skilled workforce, a robust industrial base, and extensive facilities, such as customs and tax exemptions for investments in free industrial zones. He also highlighted the Suez Canal Economic Zone, which offers strong infrastructure and a strategic geographic location.
