Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, held talks with Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to the US President for Arab and African Affairs, as part of continuous coordination and consultation with the United States on various issues of common interest. The discussions addressed the developments in Sudan and ways to support efforts aimed at restoring stability to the country.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Abdelatty briefed Massad Boulos on Egypt's regional and international initiatives to support Sudan, highlighting Egypt's leadership in the African Union Peace and Security Council's ministerial session on Sudanese developments. He also mentioned the visit of Dr. Kamil Idriss, Prime Minister of Sudan, to Cairo, which underscored the growing momentum in high-level political consultations between Egypt and Sudan.
Minister Abdelatty emphasized the importance of supporting Sudanese state institutions and maintaining the country's unity and territorial integrity, as well as backing the water rights of both nations. He reiterated Egypt's stance against any attempts to undermine Sudan's unity or territorial integrity, stressing the necessity of preserving Sudanese sovereignty and supporting its national institutions.
Furthermore, the Foreign Minister highlighted the significance of ongoing efforts within the framework of the International Quartet. He expressed his anticipation for continued cooperation and coordination with the United States to contribute to de-escalation efforts and to create a conducive environment for resuming a comprehensive political path in Sudan.
