Dakar: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration, Badr Abdelatty, arrived in Senegal on Thursday, marking the fifth and final stop of his West African tour. During his visit to Dakar, Abdelatty met with Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye and delivered a written message from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty emphasized the special nature of relations between Egypt and Senegal, highlighting Egypt's deep appreciation for the historical and fraternal ties uniting the two peoples. He expressed Egypt's aspiration to strengthen its partnership with Senegal across various sectors. The Foreign Minister conveyed President El-Sisi's greetings and appreciation to President Faye, praising the longstanding and growing ties between the two countries, both bilaterally and within the framework of joint African cooperation.He noted that the visit coincides with the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Egypt and S enegal, emphasizing the pride of the Egyptian government and people in the depth of these relations. Abdelatty affirmed that Egypt considers Senegal a strategic partner in West Africa, pointing to the alignment of views on various regional and international issues and the ongoing coordination between the two nations in multilateral forums to defend African interests and promote continental unity.He also commended Senegal's balanced regional policies and its constructive role in West Africa. In this context, he noted that he was accompanied by a high-level delegation of 30 Egyptian businessmen-an embodiment of the political will to elevate economic ties to unprecedented levels.The delegation, he explained, includes leading representatives from major Egyptian companies and national entities operating in agriculture, industry, construction, energy, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and information technology. Abdelatty underscored these companies' strong interest in expanding their presence in the Senegalese market , expressing willingness to provide technical support, transfer expertise, and help localize complementary industries. These efforts, he said, would support Senegal's ability to fully leverage its natural and human resources.He also reiterated Egypt's full support for the ambitious development agenda led by President Faye, aimed at revitalizing the national economy and achieving sustainable development. The two leaders also discussed developments in the Sahel and West Africa. Abdelatty stressed the importance of adopting a comprehensive approach to combating terrorism and organized crime-one that strengthens security responses while also addressing the ideological roots of extremism and supporting development as a cornerstone of regional stability.President Faye, in turn, asked Abdelatty to convey his greetings and appreciation to President El-Sisi. He expressed pride in the strong relations between Senegal and Egypt and praised Egypt's leading role in supporting African causes. President Faye reaffirmed his country's commitment to continued coordination with Egypt at both bilateral and continental levels, and to enhancing cooperation in international forums to serve the interests of both nations and reinforce Africa's collective voice.In a separate meeting, Abdelatty held talks with Senegalese Foreign Minister Yassine Fall. The two ministers explored avenues to deepen bilateral cooperation across political, economic, and development sectors. Abdelatty also expressed hope for holding the next session of the Egypt-Senegal Joint Committee in Dakar, aiming to achieve tangible outcomes that further strengthen cooperation. He reaffirmed Egypt's full readiness to support Senegal's Vision 2050 by sharing expertise and experiences.
