FM Asserts Resilience of Egyptian Economy, Ability to Withstand Challenges

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Expatriates Badr Abdelatty asserted the resilience of the Egyptian economy and its ability to withstand and manage the repercussions of successive regional and international crises. During a meeting on Sunday, April 5th, 2026, with a delegation from the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Cairo, headed by AmCham Chairman Omar Mehanna to discuss ways to strengthen economic partnership between Egypt and the US, contributing to the broader strategic partnership between the two countries, the two sides took up ongoing preparations for the chamber's upcoming delegation visit to Washington as part of its regular 'Door-to-Door' mission.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tamim Khallaf, stated that the foreign minister emphasized Egypt's steady progress in comprehensive reforms, ensuring economic stability and providing a secure and stable environment for foreign investments. Abdelatty underscored Egypt's commitment to enhancing economic, trade, and investment cooperation with the United States, praising the proactive role of the American Chamber of Commerce in Cairo in advancing economic ties between the two countries.

He highlighted a keen interest in developing frameworks for economic cooperation with the US, noting the success of the first edition of the Egyptian-American Economic Forum held in Cairo last May, which saw wide participation from major US companies, fostering stronger collaboration with the private sectors of both countries. The minister further voiced anticipation for the second edition of the forum this year, aiming to deepen institutional cooperation and open new avenues for investment partnerships.

Abdelatty reviewed recent structural reforms undertaken by the government to improve the investment climate and business environment, stressing that attracting foreign direct investment remains a top priority for Egypt. He further underscored the country's competitive advantages, including its advanced infrastructure and extensive network of free trade agreements, positioning Egypt as a strategic hub for access to African, Middle Eastern, and European markets.

Abdelatty affirmed the ministry's commitment to maintaining direct communication with the business community to remove obstacles and support successful economic partnerships.
