Cairo: Senate President Essam Farid emphasized the deep-rooted fraternal ties between Egypt and Jordan on Sunday, July 5, 2026, highlighting the importance of strengthening parliamentary cooperation to enhance coordination on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Farid made these remarks during a meeting with Jordanian Senate President Faisal Al Fayez and his accompanying delegation. The session focused on exploring ways to enhance bilateral parliamentary relations. Farid referred to Egypt as Jordan's "second home," acknowledging the longstanding historical ties that bind the two nations across multiple levels.
Farid praised the growing cooperation and close coordination between Cairo and Amman on regional and international matters, particularly concerning the Palestinian cause. He reiterated Egypt's unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and its firm rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians or undermine their cause.
In reaffirming Egypt's support for Jordan, Farid stressed the importance of safeguarding Jordan's security, stability, and territorial integrity. He emphasized the need to avoid actions that could escalate tensions or disrupt efforts to promote peace and security in the region. Farid also advocated for closer collaboration between the Egyptian and Jordanian Senates to exchange expertise, unify visions, and strengthen coordination on shared concerns.
Al Fayez, in response, expressed pride in visiting Egypt and highlighted the strong fraternal relations between Jordan's King Abdullah II and President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. He stressed the importance of building upon these ties to expand cooperation in various fields. Additionally, he praised Egypt's steadfast support for Arab and Islamic causes, describing the nation as "the pillar of the Arab world" and commending its historic role in defending Arab interests.
