Foreign, Petroleum Ministers Hold Investment Briefing for Foreign Diplomats

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi held on Sunday, July 5, 2026, a briefing for representatives of foreign embassies in Cairo on investment opportunities and recent developments in Egypt's energy and mining sectors.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty emphasized that the meeting comes at a critical time when global energy markets are confronting increasing challenges due to regional and international developments. He highlighted the necessity of international cooperation to enhance energy security and diversify energy sources.

Abdelatty also pointed out Egypt's advantages as a regional energy hub, mentioning its strategic location, advanced infrastructure, and investments in both conventional and renewable energy sectors. He underscored the potential in the country's mining industry as well.

Simultaneously, Badawi detailed the government's strategies to boost the appeal of the petroleum and mining sectors to investors. These strategies include offering incentives for exploration and production, revising investment agreements, and ensuring timely settlement of payments to foreign partners.

Badawi also explored the investment opportunities available through the Egypt Upstream Gateway, as well as seismic survey programs in various regions. He highlighted opportunities within the natural gas infrastructure and the petrochemical industry.

The meeting concluded with discussions with embassy representatives about expanding cooperation in the energy and mining sectors, exploring investment opportunities, and recent initiatives to improve Egypt's investment climate to facilitate the operations of foreign companies.
