Egypt: Egypt is calling for immediate and sustained aid to Gaza's health system following extensive damage to medical facilities across the Palestinian enclave, as stated by Health and Population Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar. His remarks were made during the 63rd session of the Arab Health Ministers Council held in Libya.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdel Ghaffar, who also presides over the council's executive office, emphasized the urgent need for the rapid delivery of essential medical supplies, including medicines, vaccines, and equipment. He highlighted the importance of supporting mobile clinics funded by the Arab Health Development Fund to address the pressing health needs in Gaza.
Further, Abdel Ghaffar showcased Egypt's success in combating hepatitis C and other infectious diseases, proposing it as a model for regional health improvement. He stressed the need for Arab countries to share expertise to bolster their health systems collectively.
Additionally, Abdel Ghaffar pointed out the significance of utilizing the skills of Arab medical professionals abroad and enhancing research, innovation, and coordination among Arab health institutions. He advocated for joint initiatives such as the Arab Forum on Health and Environment and the Arab Observatory on Drugs to promote regional health cooperation.
In his concluding remarks, Abdel Ghaffar called for a unified Arab voice at the World Health Assembly to effectively represent regional health priorities and challenges.
