Cairo: Cairo University has achieved further progress in the 2025-2026 edition of the University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP), rising to 240th place globally, compared with 249th in 2025 and 273rd in 2024.
According to State Information Service Egypt, University President Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadek stated that the university maintained its position as the top-ranked Egyptian university in the URAP 2025-2026 rankings, leading the nearest Egyptian institution by more than 130 places among the 36 Egyptian universities included in this year's ranking.
He noted that the achievement reflects the university's strong research performance, academic leadership, and continued excellence in scientific output and international research impact indicators.
Abdel Sadek added that the university's continued success in international rankings demonstrates the strength of its academic and research system, emphasizing that institutional and research excellence has become a firmly established approach. He said that Cairo University's domestic leadership and global advancement reflect the competence of its faculty members and researchers, as well as the university's ability to compete and exert influence internationally.
For his part, university vice-president Mahmoud El-Saeed said that the URAP ranking is one of the leading global university rankings and relies primarily on indicators related to research performance, scientific productivity, and international research impact.
He added that the university's improving results year after year reflect the success of institutional policies aimed at supporting researchers, promoting international scientific publishing, developing research infrastructure, and expanding research partnerships and cooperation with leading international universities and institutions.
URAP is one of the world's prominent university ranking systems covering thousands of institutions worldwide. It assesses thousands of institutions worldwide based on key research indicators. These metrics include scientific output, publication quality, citations, international impact, and global research collaboration.
