Ambassador Alaa Youssef: Recent Developments Underscored Importance of Egyptian-Asian Cooperation

Cairo: Chairman of the State Information Service (SIS) Ambassador Alaa Youssef affirmed that Egyptian-Asian relations are now more important than ever for the security and development of both Egypt and Asian countries, as well as for regional and international stability.According to State Information Service Egypt, these remarks came in the editorial of the eighteenth issue of Asian Horizons, a comprehensive political and academic journal published by the State Information Service (SIS) in Arabic, English, and Chinese. Ambassador Alaa Youssef noted that developments at both the international and regional levels in recent years have made the strengthening of Egyptian-Asian relations a strategic necessity for advancing the interests of both sides in a world undergoing profound economic, strategic, and political transformations. He added that, in a region facing persistent sources of instability and requiring the collective efforts of all stakeholders both within and beyond the region, Egypt, under the leaders hip of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, has succeeded since 2014 in making significant progress in advancing its relations with Asian countries, in parallel with strengthening its ties with other states and international groupings.Ambassador Alaa Youssef explained that Egypt's close relations with countries across the Asian continent have contributed to strengthening the foundations of Egypt's national security, supporting its comprehensive development efforts, and advancing numerous fields, including technology, scientific research, education, industrial localization, and the modernization of the economy's infrastructure.He added that the current crisis arising from the United States-Iran conflict, with its repercussions for security and stability in the Middle East and West Asia, as well as for the global economy, international maritime security, and international trade flows, has once again highlighted Egypt's vital role in cooperating with various international actors. These include Asian countries dir ectly connected to the crisis and to efforts aimed at containing escalation and restoring stability, in addition to other influential actors within the international system. Recent developments have once again demonstrated that Egyptian-Asian cooperation constitutes one of the important pillars serving the interests of the peoples of the region and the wider international community.The main theme of the current issue of Asian Horizons is 'Cross-Border Economic Corridors in Asia.' The issue includes a number of studies, among them: 'The Impact of Economic Corridors on Asian Security: A Study of the India-Middle East Economic Corridor,' 'The Impact of the Belt and Road Initiative on Asian Corridors,' a study on 'The Middle Corridor and International Trade Flows,' and another on 'The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route: Geopolitical Implications.'Ambassador Alaa Youssef further noted that the new issue also features studies addressing a range of topics, including 'The Geopolitical Dimensions of Water Security in Central Asia,' developments in 'Strategic Relations Between South Korea and Arab States,' and 'The Impact of Sustainability in Logistics Supply Chains on Operational Efficiency: The Case of Egyptian Ports.'The journal also includes a collection of reports on Asian affairs, including 'The 2025 United States National Security Strategy and Its Impact on the Asian Continent,' 'Egyptian-Japanese Relations in Light of TICAD 9,' 'The China-Arab States Expo: A Model for Cultural Connectivity,' a report on 'Kyrgyzstan's 2025 Parliamentary Elections,' an analysis titled 'Elif Shafak: A Model of Turkish Literature,' and a report on the 'China-Arab Research Center for Reform and Development,' in addition to other studies published in the English and Chinese sections of the journal.Asian Horizons provides researchers from Egypt and abroad with a platform to publish studies, research papers, and reports addressing a wide range of Asian political, economic, social, and cultural issues. The journal is publish ed quarterly and is edited by Abdelmoeti Abuzaid, with Dr. Samar Ibrahim Mohamed serving as Academic Advisor. A number of specialists participate in its peer-review process. The journal is issued in both print and digital formats, available through the State Information Service website, and distributed free of charge.As part of efforts to strengthen the journal's academic standing and knowledge documentation, Asian Horizons has been accredited by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology and the Egyptian Knowledge Bank. It has also received a distinguished evaluation from the Supreme Council of Universities and has been included in a number of international academic databases.
