Cairo: Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly met with Minister of State for Information Diaa Rashwan to discuss the implementation mechanisms of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's recent directives aimed at enhancing media dialogue and developing Egypt's media sector.
According to State Information Service Egypt, these directives were announced during the inauguration of the Strategic Command Headquarters in the New Capital. They emphasize the importance of expanding objective media dialogue that includes multiple viewpoints and propose the organization of an annual conference under the President's patronage to evaluate the state of Egyptian media.
Madbouly reiterated the government's dedication to these directives by improving communication with the public, ensuring the provision of accurate information, and actively countering misinformation. He highlighted the role of the weekly Cabinet press conference and regular interactions between ministers and the media as part of these commitments.
The Prime Minister also assessed the coordination efforts between the Ministry of State for Information and various media institutions. These efforts aim to enhance the development of both public and private media sectors and promote meaningful dialogue.
Minister Rashwan, on his part, stated that the ministry is collaborating with relevant bodies to transform the President's directives into actionable plans. He presented several proposals, including support for public service media, enhancement of media office performance across government ministries, facilitation of press institutions' operations, and the acceleration of a freedom of information law.
Dr. Madbouly instructed Minister Rashwan to present a detailed plan to the Cabinet. This plan should outline the steps for implementing the President's directives and advancing government media communication.
