Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi engaged in a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss the strategic partnership between Egypt and France, and to explore ways to implement agreements made during President Macron's visit to Egypt in April 2025.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the dialogue focused on enhancing bilateral relations across multiple domains, aiming to serve the interests of both nations. President Macron extended his congratulations to President El-Sisi on Dr. Khaled El-Enany's success in the UNESCO Executive Board elections and his appointment as UNESCO Director-General.
President El-Sisi expressed appreciation for France's recognition of the Palestinian State on September 22, 2025, an outcome of the two-state solution conference co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia in New York. He viewed this recognition as a catalyst for other countries to acknowledge an independent Palestinian state, adhering to the two-state solution, international agreements, and UN resolutions, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The two leaders also addressed the urgent need to cease hostilities in the Gaza Strip. They reviewed Egypt's mediation efforts to implement the plan proposed by US President Donald Trump to end the conflict. Both presidents stressed the importance of an immediate ceasefire, the unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza, the exchange of hostages and captives, and the prompt initiation of reconstruction efforts without displacing Palestinians. They agreed to maintain close consultations to further the efforts to resolve the conflict and alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
