PM Follows Up on Recommendations of Entrepreneurship Committee

Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly affirmed the government's commitment to following up on the efforts and recommendations of the Advisory Committee for the Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, particularly regarding entrepreneurship, which the government regards as a key pillar for achieving human development goals.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouly met with committee members to review their recent work, in the presence of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Minister Rania Al-Mashat and Communications and Information Technology Minister Amr Talaat.

During the meeting, Mashat shed light on the progress on several measures currently implemented by the committee, including the 'Startups Charter in Egypt'. Formulated by the ministerial group for entrepreneurship under the planning ministry, the charter provides a comprehensive framework to support the growth and success of startups. It is designed to attract $5 billion in startup investments over the next five years, creating approximately 500,000 direct and indirect jobs.

The charter covers 12 priority sectors, including edtech, health tech, socially impactful technology, agri-tech, and tourism tech. It also includes over 80 government incentives and facilitation measures, along with a clear definition of startups to ensure efficient access to support.

Mashat also outlined steps for launching the Unified Financing Initiative, which will allocate EGP 50 billion to support around 5,000 startups, including 500 startups expected to attract over $1 million in investment. She further highlighted the preparation of a guidance manual detailing all legal and administrative steps for startups to navigate government services and licensing procedures.
