Cairo: Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania el Mashat emphasized that what distinguishes Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth is the continuous increase and improvement in industrial production, along with the growth rates of various industries, such as vehicles, textiles, and ready-made garments. Mashat's remarks came during a meeting with a mission from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which is visiting Egypt as part of the fifth and sixth reviews of the economic reform program.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting highlighted the key developments in economic and structural reforms, the growth model within the "National Narrative for Economic Development," and the growth rates achieved in the first quarter of this year. The meeting also reviewed the state's efforts to empower the private sector and enhance public investment governance.
Mashat reviewed the GDP growth developments announced by the ministry for the first quarter of the current fiscal year, which reached 5.3%, surpassing expectations. She noted that the government launched the "National Narrative for Economic Development," which represents a comprehensive framework that integrates Vision 2030 with the government's program.
She drew attention to the state's efforts in implementing the State Ownership Policy Document to empower the private sector. Mashat also presented the reforms implemented by the ministry in terms of enhancing resilience and flexibility, including adding two new projects to support the transition to renewable energy under the nexus between water, food, and energy NWFE program.
