Phone Call Between Egyptian and Nigerian Foreign Ministers Discusses Enhancing Bilateral Relations

Cairo: The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, engaged in a phone conversation with his Nigerian counterpart, Minister Yusuf Tuggar, to explore avenues for boosting bilateral ties and exchanging perspectives on regional developments and mutual interests.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Abdelatty highlighted the longstanding historical relations between Egypt and Nigeria, which are experiencing increased momentum in political, economic, and developmental areas. He underscored the significance of leveraging the outcomes from his July 2025 visit to Nigeria, including the Egypt-Nigeria Business Forum. Abdelatty emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in key sectors such as trade, energy, agriculture, infrastructure, mining, construction, and pharmaceuticals. He also advocated for the continued exchange of expertise and capacity-building through initiatives like the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development and the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding.

On the regional front, both ministers assessed the current developments across the African continent, acknowledging the necessity for reinforced joint African action amidst rising challenges, particularly political and humanitarian crises and transnational threats. They stressed the importance of sustained consultation and coordination within the African Union to serve the continent's peoples and bolster regional security and stability.

The dialogue concluded with a commitment to ongoing coordination in regional and international forums, aiming to strengthen their partnership to fulfill shared goals of sustainable development and the promotion of peace and security in Africa.
