Cairo: Minister of State for Media Diaa Rashwan emphasized the government's commitment to supporting Egypt's private media sector to enhance its role in serving society and addressing national issues. During a meeting with the heads of major private television channels in Egypt, Rashwan highlighted the significance of private media outlets in raising public awareness, countering misinformation, and responding to rumors on social media.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting aligns with President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's directives concerning the critical role of responsible national media and public communication. The discussions focused on the challenges private television channels face, such as the need for quicker access to official information, reduced operational and broadcasting costs, and stronger measures against piracy and content theft.

Channel heads also called on the government to expedite the issuance of the information circulation law and improve audience measurement and media research systems. Minister Rashwan assured that the ministry would coordinate with relevant authorities on the issues raised during the meeting and maintain ongoing discussions to support the development of Egypt's media sector.
