Minister of Public Business Sector Engages in Strategic Talks at African American Business Summit

Luanda: In line with Egypt's commitment to deepening economic cooperation with African countries, Engineer Mohamed Shaimi, Minister of Public Business Sector, held a series of high-level bilateral meetings during his participation representing Egypt at the 17th African American Business Summit, which took place in the Angolan capital Luanda from June 22 to 25. This was attended by Ambassador Nevine El-Husseini, Egypt's Ambassador to Angola.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the minister met with Ms. Esperan§a da Costa, Vice President of the Republic of Angola, where both sides affirmed the depth of historical relations between Egypt and Angola, as well as ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in priority areas. The importance of the summit as a platform to foster dialogue between governments and the private sector to accelerate development in Africa was also discussed, particularly in light of Angola's presidency of the African Union this year and its celebration of 50 years of independence.

The meetings also included several ministers and officials from the participating countries, including on the Angolan side: Mr. Rui de Oliveira, Minister of Industry and Trade, Mr. Isaac Francisco, Minister of Agriculture, Ms. Silvia Paula, Minister of Health, and Mr. Armando Manuel, Head of the Sovereign Wealth Fund, alongside meetings with Mr. Julian Paluku, Minister of Trade of the Republic of Congo, Mr. Karim Zidan, Moroccan Minister of Investment, and Mr. Mohamed Arkab, Algerian Minister of Energy. The discussions focused on opportunities to enhance joint cooperation between Egypt and these countries, particularly in investment, joint manufacturing, and trade exchange, contributing to deepening economic integration among African nations and serving sustainable development goals.

Engineer Mohamed Shaimi confirmed that the Egyptian state, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, places great importance on strengthening partnerships with African countries based on common interests and regional integration. He noted that the Ministry of Public Business Sector seeks to expand cooperation horizons with sisterly countries on the continent, particularly in priority productive sectors.

He explained that these meetings come as part of implementing the state's strategy to open new avenues for Egyptian companies in African markets, transfer industrial and technological expertise, and enhance partnerships with both public and private sectors in African countries. He added that there are promising opportunities for cooperation in various fields, emphasizing that this summit represents an important platform to enhance direct communication between governments and companies from the participating countries.
