Al-rubiki: Minister of Industry, Eng. Khaled Hashem, inspected the Leather City in Al-Rubiki to monitor the progress of work in the factories and the Technology Center for Leather Tanning, and to assess production rates, procedures required to increase exports, and challenges facing investors.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the Minister was accompanied during his visit by the Head of the General Authority for Industrial Development, Dr. Nahed Youssef, Head of Cairo Investment and Development Company, Executive Director and Managing Director of the company Eng. Mahmoud Mahrez, Head of the Leather Export Council, and Head of the Licensing Committee at the Federation of Egyptian Industries, Eng. Mahmoud Serag. A number of leaders from the Ministry and the Authority, along with representatives of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, were also present.
Hashim also inspected the second phase of the glue factories and the ongoing finishing work on the tanneries. The minister directed that the units be completed and finished quickly to meet the needs of investors and accommodate the tanneries relocated to the city.
The Minister of Industry emphasized that the Leather City in Al-Rubiki represents one of the most important integrated industrial projects in the region. It encompasses a comprehensive leather manufacturing system, from tanning to the production of finished leather goods. He noted that the state aims, through the development of the Leather City in Al-Rubiki, to transform it into a regional hub for the leather industry in the Middle East and Africa, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian products in international markets.
The minister explained that the ministry is preparing to offer several new production units in the third phase of the Leather City in Al-Rubiki soon. This initiative aims to localize and modernize the national leather industry and attract leading international companies in the leather sector, particularly those with significant technological and marketing capabilities that enable them to penetrate global markets. This will contribute to increasing the added value of Egyptian leather and boosting exports.
