Cairo: Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem emphasized the significance of the electrical and engineering industries as key sectors for Egypt, highlighting their potential for high value-added production, export capacity, and contribution to localizing technology and deepening domestic manufacturing. He made these remarks during the inauguration of the third edition of the Egypt Power Show (EPS) Buyers Mission, representing Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly. The event is organized by the Engineering Export Council of Egypt under the Prime Minister's patronage.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the sector has seen substantial growth in production and exports in recent years, driven by Egypt's modern infrastructure, economic reforms, and an investment climate that favors manufacturing and exports. The Egypt Power Show serves as a crucial platform for connecting Egyptian manufacturers with international buyers, as evidenced by the participation of buyers from 20 countries, showcasing the growing confidence in Egyptian products and their competitiveness in global markets.
Hashem reiterated the Ministry of Industry's dedication to supporting companies in boosting production, enhancing local manufacturing, developing feeder industries, and expanding exports. Engineering Export Council Chairman Sherif El-Sayyad stated that the council is actively working to penetrate new markets through trade missions and buyers' programmes, aiming to increase engineering exports to approximately US$7.5 billion in 2026.
After the opening ceremony, Hashem toured the exhibition, engaging with representatives of participating companies and international buyers from Arab and African countries.
