Cairo: The Cabinet Information and Decision Center (IDSC) published on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, a series of infographics across its social media platforms highlighting the remarkable growth of Egypt's food industry sector, despite global and regional challenges.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the sector has witnessed notable expansion in recent years, driven by increased production capacities, modernization of manufacturing lines, and the development of quality and food safety systems in line with international standards. The state has also launched financial initiatives to support companies and factories, enhancing their ability to expand and export. In parallel, new export markets have been opened, and access to existing markets has been strengthened, resulting in a marked increase in export volumes and boosting the global competitiveness of Egyptian products in line with the state's focus on maximizing exports.
The infographics highlighted positive international assessments, including from Fitch Ratings, which identified Egypt as a key hub for food exports in the Middle East and North Africa. This has encouraged major local and international companies to expand production capacities domestically. The agency also praised the processed food sector, noting that exports exceeded $6 billion in 2024-the highest in the sector's history.
Regarding improvements in food export performance, the infographics noted that food industry exports increased by 43.2% since 2021/2022, reaching $6.3 billion in 2024/2025, compared with $6 billion in 2023/2024, $4.8 billion in 2022/2023, and $4.4 billion in 2021/2022.
The infographics also highlighted leading factories and companies achieving unprecedented export levels thanks to ambitious state initiatives. The 'Support for Production Activities in Industry and Agriculture' initiative was financed with EGP 90 billion in the 2025/2026 fiscal year at a reduced interest rate of 15%.
Key factories include:
- Silo Foods for Food Industries, with three factories, a flour mill, and wheat silos. Its United Agricultural Products Drying Factory has $30 million in investments, with a new production line underway at $11 million. Over 90% of the company's output is dedicated to export.
- Egyptian Swiss Group for Pasta, Milling, and Concentrates, exporting around 65% of its production to over 40 countries.
- Mexicano Food Industries, with $5 million in investments, dedicating 70% of its production for export.
