Cairo: Minister of Labor Hassan Raddad emphasized the need for enhanced collaboration with the International Labor Organization (ILO) to expedite joint initiatives aimed at improving Egypt's labor market and working conditions.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Raddad met with Eric Ochlan, the Director of the ILO Cairo office, at the Ministry's Headquarters in the New Capital. They discussed various joint programs, reviewing plans for future implementation. Both parties highlighted the significance of maintaining a strategic partnership to ensure the rapid execution of joint projects that align with Egypt's labor market goals.

The meeting focused on the next steps for urgent areas such as the National Employment Strategy, which aims to refine employment services, boost human resources, and tailor training programs to meet current labor market demands. Another priority is launching the National Occupational Safety and Health Strategy to foster a culture of workplace safety and compliance with health standards.

Discussions also covered joint initiatives like the Better Work program, targeting improved labor conditions and adherence to labor standards. Other cooperation areas include employment policy development, skills training, social dialogue, and the empowerment of women and youth in the labor sector.

Raddad reiterated the Ministry's dedication to leveraging the ILO's international expertise to further enhance Egypt's labor system and foster a stable and productive work environment. He acknowledged past achievements as a foundation for future intensive collaboration focused on swift execution and concrete outcomes.

Ochlan expressed appreciation for the collaboration with the Ministry of Labor, affirming the ILO's continued support for Egypt's labor priorities. He emphasized that strengthening joint programs would aid in achieving sustainable development and promote decent work principles.

The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to keep communication open and intensify efforts for the successful completion of joint initiatives, thereby reinforcing the partnership between the Ministry of Labor and the ILO, and supporting employment, safety, decent work, and empowerment goals in Egypt.
