Cairo: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates announced that it was continuing intensive efforts and contacts to secure the swift release of Egyptian sailors held aboard a vessel off the Somali coast, ensure their safety, and provide them with suitable living conditions until the crisis is resolved and they return home safely.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty is directly following developments and has ordered continued intensive action on all fronts to ensure the safety of the Egyptian nationals and secure their prompt release. The Ministry emphasized that intensive contacts are under way with the relevant Somali and Yemeni authorities to follow developments, push for the sailors' swift release, and ensure they receive their basic needs and suitable living conditions.

The Ministry is also in contact with the company that owns the vessel to ensure the prompt release of the Egyptian nationals and urge it to fulfil its responsibilities under international law. Additionally, regular contact is being maintained with the sailors' families to keep them informed of the latest developments and the ongoing efforts being made until their release.
