Moscow: Health and Population Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar discussed with officials of Russian company Rosatom ways to enhance joint cooperation in the healthcare sector during a meeting held at the Priorov National Medical Research Center for Traumatology and Orthopedics in Moscow, on the sidelines of his participation in the Healthy Life Forum.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting is part of ongoing cooperation between Egypt and Rosatom across several strategic sectors, particularly healthcare, universal health coverage, and the pharmaceutical industry. The discussions aimed at exploring new opportunities in nuclear medicine and advanced diagnostic and therapeutic technologies.
The talks focused on the prospects of establishing specialized centers for nuclear medicine and radiotherapy in Egypt. This includes the creation of an integrated regional center for cancer diagnosis and treatment, which would bolster the state's capacity to tackle non-communicable diseases, Health Ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar reported.
Both parties emphasized the importance of expanding training and capacity-building programs through fellowships and academic exchange between Egyptian medical institutions and Russian universities and research centers. This collaboration would particularly focus on radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, and medical physics, the spokesman added.
