Egypt and Netherlands Discuss Economic Ties and Regional Stability

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty received a phone call from the Netherlands' new Foreign Minister, Tom Berendsen, to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty congratulated Berendsen on his new role and expressed Egypt's eagerness to collaborate with the Dutch government. He emphasized the potential for strengthening economic relations, particularly in renewable energy, and invited increased Dutch investment in Egypt's burgeoning economic zones and national projects.

The conversation highlighted the successful cooperation between Egypt and the Netherlands, particularly in migration and the recovery of smuggled Egyptian antiquities. Abdelatty praised the joint efforts that led to the return of several artifacts, underscoring both nations' commitment to combating antiquities trafficking.

Abdelatty also sought Dutch support for the expedited disbursement of the EU's macro-financial assistance to Egypt, crucial for mitigating the economic impact of regional military escalations. The discussion covered the importance of diplomacy to prevent regional chaos, with Abdelatty briefing Berendsen on his recent visits to Gulf countries and Jordan. He condemned Iranian attacks on Arab states, stressing the importance of safeguarding regional security.

The Dutch foreign minister expressed his desire to enhance bilateral relations and lauded Egypt's role in regional stability. He commended Egypt's leadership and its efforts to evacuate European nationals, including Dutch citizens, from the region.
