Cairo: Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Minister Badr Abdelatty urged Germany to pressure Israel to lift restrictions on humanitarian aid to Gaza and warned against Israeli settlement policies undermining prospects for a Palestinian state. In a phone call with his German counterpart Johann Wadephul, Abdelatty stressed the need for intensified regional and international efforts to achieve a ceasefire and stop Israel's 'flagrant crimes' in Gaza and the West Bank.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty outlined a proposed 60-day ceasefire deal involving hostage and prisoner releases and the entry of humanitarian aid, calling it a viable solution. He also called on EU states to take concrete steps during the upcoming informal foreign ministers' meeting in Denmark to push Israel to comply with international law.
The two ministers also discussed Iran's nuclear file, with Abdelatty emphasizing the importance of resuming negotiations and restoring cooperation between Tehran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to avoid further regional instability.
