Luxembourg: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty praised the significant progress achieved in Egyptian-German relations across various fields in recent years.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the remarks came during a meeting with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul on the sidelines of Abdelatty's visit to Luxembourg to participate in the Egypt-European Union Association Council meeting. Abdelatty stressed that the Egyptian-German partnership is a key pillar of Egypt's relations with Europe, particularly amid the momentum generated by the elevation of Egypt-EU ties to a strategic and comprehensive partnership.
He expressed his aspiration to continue joint efforts to further advance bilateral relations in line with the shared interests and existing cooperation between the two countries. The Minister underscored the importance of deepening economic and investment cooperation with Germany, one of Egypt's leading European economic partners.
He highlighted the promising investment opportunities available in Egypt for German companies in sectors including industry, energy, infrastructure, the green economy, and digital transformation. The meeting also addressed a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Abdelatty welcomed the agreement reached between the United States and Iran, stressing that dialogue and diplomatic solutions remain the only path to addressing various concerns. He further expressed hope that Germany would play a more active role regarding the situation in Gaza Strip, including ensuring full and sustainable access for humanitarian aid and supporting efforts to resume the political process aimed at implementing the two-state solution in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.
For his part, the German foreign minister commended Egypt's pivotal role in supporting security and stability in the region and its efforts to contain regional escalation and promote de-escalation and political solutions. He also expressed Germany's desire to continue developing bilateral relations with Egypt and to strengthen consultation and coordination between the two countries on regional and international issues of common interest in a manner that serves the interests of both friendly peoples.
