Bled: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, met with the European Commissioner for Crisis Management, Hadja Lahbib, on the sidelines of the Bled Forum in Slovenia. During the meeting, Minister Abdelatty acknowledged the positive developments in Egypt's relations with the European Union since the joint announcement in March 2024, which elevated their relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Abdelatty emphasized Egypt's commitment to implementing the six pillars of the partnership to benefit both sides. The meeting addressed regional issues, particularly the situation in the Gaza Strip. Minister Abdelatty detailed Egypt's efforts to achieve a ceasefire, secure the release of hostages and detainees, and deliver humanitarian assistance amid the severe humanitarian crisis in the region, exacerbated by intensified Israeli actions.
Minister Abdelatty urged the European Union to take effective measures to pressure Israel to cease hostilities, halt its violations, and comply with international and humanitarian law. He also updated the Commissioner on Egypt's ongoing efforts to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
The discussions extended to the developments in Sudan, where Minister Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's support for Sudanese state institutions and underscored the importance of respecting Sudan's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. He expressed Egypt's readiness to participate in initiatives aimed at achieving an immediate ceasefire and alleviating the humanitarian challenges faced by the Sudanese people.
