Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held discussions with his Turkish and Pakistani counterparts, agreeing to continue intensive and sincere efforts and maintain close consultations in the coming days to support regional stability and prevent further escalation of conflict.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the agreement followed two phone calls on Thursday between Abdelatty, Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, during which the rapidly evolving developments and the serious military escalation in the region were discussed.
Spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry Tamim Khallaf said the calls included an exchange of views and assessments regarding the consequences of the military escalation and ongoing efforts to reduce tensions.
The ministers also reviewed intensive trilateral efforts aimed at initiating direct negotiations between the United States and Iran, reinforcing the importance of diplomacy and dialogue as an alternative to military action, which could otherwise drive the region into widespread chaos, violence, and terrorism.
The spokesperson added that Abdelatty stressed the importance of coordinated regional and international action to contain the situation, noting that a path of de-escalation and focusing on diplomatic solutions represents the only viable approach to managing the current crisis.
He expressed hope that the joint Egyptian-Turkish-Pakistani efforts would lead to a reduction in tensions and the start of a gradual de-escalation process, ultimately paving the way for an end to the war.
