Cairo: A phone call was conducted on March 7, 2026, between Dr. Badr Abdelatty, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates, and Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The call is part of the ongoing consultations between the two countries regarding the rapidly evolving regional developments amidst the grave military escalation in the region.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the two ministers exchanged assessments and views on the widening scope of military confrontations in the region and their extremely grave repercussions for Arab national security. Dr. Abdelatty emphasized the serious danger of continuing the ongoing military operations, warning that the escalation of the current situation puts the region's security at a critical juncture.
Minister Abdelatty also underscored the necessity of prioritizing de-escalation tracks in order to prevent the region from sliding into wider confrontations. The call also touched on the recent attacks which targeted a number of Gulf countries and other Arab states.
In this context, Minister Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's full support and solidarity with the Gulf Cooperation Council and all Arab states in facing such attacks, stemming from the centrality of Gulf security to Egyptian national security. Moreover, the Foreign Minister reiterated Egypt's steadfast stance rejecting any attempts to justify these attacks or any pretexts for infringing upon the sovereignty of sisterly states.
