FM Engages in High-Level Discussions on Regional and International Developments

Ljubljana: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates' Affairs Dr. Badr Abdelatty engaged in a series of high-level discussions with foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, and Qatar, focusing on crucial regional and international issues. The discussions took place during a working lunch with Dr. Robert Golub, Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, amid his visit to the Slovenian capital.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Dr. Badr Abdelatty expressed gratitude for Slovenia's supportive stance on the Palestinian cause, highlighting Slovenia's recognition of the State of Palestine, its affirmative votes in relevant UN resolutions, and its backing of efforts geared towards a ceasefire and the cessation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip.

Dr. Abdelatty further elaborated on Egypt's initiatives since the onset of the conflict, aimed at achieving a ceasefire and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid while preventing the displacement of Palestinians. He also welcomed the US President's plan to halt the war.

The discussions also touched upon Egypt's support for the second phase of the peace plan, which includes the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza. Dr. Abdelatty emphasized the importance of empowering this committee to fulfill its responsibilities within the Gaza Strip.

Additionally, Dr. Abdelatty advocated for the deployment of an international stabilization force to monitor the ceasefire and facilitate the uninterrupted flow of aid. He stressed the urgency of expediting early recovery and reconstruction efforts, alongside supporting the training of the Palestinian police.

Concluding his discussions, Dr. Abdelatty underscored the critical need to bolster the Palestinian Authority and cautioned about the heightened tensions in the West Bank, settlement expansion, and the imperative of reaching a fair and comprehensive settlement. This settlement should lead to the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
