Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty emphasized that sustainable de-escalation is crucial for paving a serious political pathway towards a just and universal settlement of the Palestinian issue. This statement was made during a phone conversation between Abdelatty and Muhammad Ishaq Dar, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, where they discussed strengthening bilateral relations and addressed several regional and international topics of mutual concern.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to its relationship with Pakistan, expressing appreciation for the recent positive developments, especially following his official visit to Islamabad in late November. He highlighted the importance of building on the outcomes of that visit and continuing joint cooperation to enhance economic, commercial, and investment relations, as well as improving communication between the public and private sectors in both countries.
The conversation also covered recent regional developments, particularly concerning the Palestinian issue. Abdelatty underscored Egypt's efforts to advance the second phase of the US president's plan, emphasizing the need for full implementation of the Security Council's resolution on Gaza. He stressed the importance of ensuring the safe and sustainable passage of humanitarian aid and taking initial steps towards early recovery and reconstruction.
The ministers also discussed the situation in Yemen, reiterating the importance of de-escalation and promoting dialogue and concord to ensure the security and stability of the Yemeni people, steering clear of unilateral actions.
