Egypt’s FM Reaffirms Rejection of Attacks on Gulf States at Manama Dialogue

Manama:Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty has reiterated Egypt's strong opposition to attacks on Gulf countries. Speaking at the 22nd edition of the Manama Dialogue during a panel titled "Pillars of Regional Security," Abdelatty emphasized the critical intersection of Gulf security with Egypt's national security.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty discussed the escalating military tensions in the region and their potential impact on both regional and international security and stability. He highlighted the severe repercussions these tensions could have on the global economy, particularly in the food and energy sectors.

Abdelatty called for a move from crisis management to the development of an early-warning and rapid-response system designed to prevent conflicts. He outlined Egypt's vision for regional security, stressing principles such as respect for international law, non-use of force, and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries. Regional ownership and shared responsibility for security were also underscored as vital components.

Furthermore, he stressed the importance of diplomatic efforts, supported by deterrence, to protect maritime routes, energy supplies, and critical infrastructure. Abdelatty advocated for a fair resolution of the Palestinian issue, calling for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, while opposing displacement, annexation, and settlement expansion.

He concluded by linking adherence to these principles with strengthened regional stability and improved prospects for development, noting the interconnection between security and development.
