Port Said:The Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ministry is introducing a digital system aimed at enhancing oversight of fuel distribution and curbing smuggling activities. This initiative is being developed in collaboration with the Interior and Communications Ministries.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the new system will utilize data from electronic vehicle stickers provided by the Interior Ministry's traffic departments. These stickers will enable tracking of petroleum products throughout the supply chain, from distribution points to the end consumers.
The pilot phase of this digital fuel monitoring system is scheduled to commence in Port Said on Sunday and will last for one month. During this period, vehicle owners who have not yet installed the stickers are encouraged to do so, and authorities will work towards ensuring full coverage of all fuel stations within the governorate.
The Ministry has emphasized that the introduction of this system will not impact fuel prices or the quantities dispensed. Instead, it is designed to identify abnormal consumption patterns and bolster monitoring and inspection efforts.
