Kuwait city: Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy engaged in discussions with Saudi Tourism Minister Ahmed al-Khateeb to explore ways to enhance tourism cooperation between Egypt and Saudi Arabia. The meeting was part of Fathy’s visit to Kuwait for the 52nd UN Tourism Regional Commission for the Middle East.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the two ministers emphasized the strong and historic relations between their countries, particularly in the tourism sector. They underlined the necessity of bolstering their ministries’ collaboration to advance and nurture the tourism industry.
The discussions pointed out the significant growth in bilateral tourism flows, manifesting in increased visitor numbers and tourism spending between the two nations. The ministers deliberated on strategies to maintain this upward trend in the future.
Both parties agreed on establishing a joint working group, featuring officials from their respective tourism promotion authorities, alongside Egyptian and Saudi tourism companies. This group aims to create joint tourism programs targeting visitors from distant markets, especially focusing on attracting tourists from China.
This effort is part of the executive program signed last November between the two ministries to further cement tourism cooperation. The meeting also saw the presence of Egypt’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Mohamed Gaber Abul Wafa, along with other key officials from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
