Cairo: Following directives from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty met with Chadian President Mahamat Idriss D©by to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral relations.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting was attended by several key Egyptian ministers, including Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Transport Kamel el Wazir, and Minister of Higher Education and Acting Minister of Culture Abdelaziz Konsowa. Abdelatty conveyed President Sisi's greetings to President D©by and presented a written message from the Egyptian leader. The message focused on enhancing bilateral relations, strategic partnerships, and coordination on regional and international issues. It also extended an invitation for Chad to participate in the El Alamein Africa Business Forum, scheduled alongside the African Union Mid-Year Coordination Summit on October 4 in El Alamein.

President D©by expressed his greetings and appreciation to President Sisi, highlighting the depth of Egyptian-Chadian relations and cooperation across various sectors. He commended President Sisi's role in mediating efforts to support security and stability in the Middle East and Africa.

During the discussion, the foreign minister underscored Egypt's appreciation for the unique nature of its relationship with Chad. He praised the outcomes of the fourth session of the joint committee between the two nations, which resulted in several agreements and marked a milestone in bilateral ties. He emphasized the commitment to further cooperation and building on past achievements, particularly in military collaboration and infrastructure development.

Minister Abdel Ghaffar highlighted health cooperation initiatives, including Egyptian medical convoys and health projects in Chad. Meanwhile, Minister Wazir discussed transport and infrastructure collaboration, notably the land connectivity project linking Egypt and Chad through Libya.

Minister Konsowa emphasized educational cooperation, noting scholarships for Chadian students and development at the Alexandria University branch in Chad. New programs in nursing, engineering, and computer science are to be introduced, aiming to serve students from Central and West African countries.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on regional issues of mutual interest, focusing on developments in the Sahel and Sahara region and the situation in Sudan.
