According to State Information Service Egypt, Abu Bakr made these remarks during a meeting with Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Yohei Onishi. The meeting, held on Friday, August 7, 2026, focused on advancing bilateral relations and included discussions on regional and international developments. The deputy foreign minister reiterated Egypt's dedication to maintaining close coordination with Japan and pursuing joint efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation. The discussions explored expanding collaboration in political, economic, trade, and investment sectors, along with initiatives in education, technology transfer, digital transformation, and infrastructure development. Both sides reviewed regional and international developments, particularly in the Middle East, sharing insights on current situations and the challenges facing the region. Abu Bakr emphasized the importance of intensifying international efforts to de-escalate regional tensions, restore stability, and promote diplomatic solutions, highlighting the need to adhere to international law principles.
