Cairo: Egypt's Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour witnessed on Monday, June 30, 2025, the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB) and global higher education consultancy QS. This agreement is aimed at enhancing the international competitiveness of Egyptian universities.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the agreement will see QS providing Egyptian universities with analytical data related to the QS World University Rankings. They will also offer technical support to help these universities earn QS Stars ratings, which are expected to improve their global visibility.
The signing ceremony was held to honor Egyptian universities that were featured in the QS World University Rankings 2025. Ashour noted the significant progress, with 20 Egyptian universities included in the 2025 global rankings, compared to just five in 2017. Furthermore, 36 Egyptian universities were highlighted in the QS Arab Region rankings and 26 in the QS Sustainability rankings.
Among the top performers, Cairo University achieved a global ranking of 347th, followed by the American University in Cairo at 381st and Ain Shams University at 542nd.
