Cairo: Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab Affairs Ehab Fahmy and Qatari Foreign Ministry Director of Arab Affairs Nayef Al-Emadi chaired a preparatory meeting of senior officials ahead of the 7th session of the Egyptian-Qatari Joint Higher Committee. The session is scheduled to be held on Thursday in El Alamein with the participation of representatives from a number of ministries and relevant government bodies in both countries.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the two sides reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation and the documents expected to be signed during the committee meeting, which will be chaired by Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Badr Abdelatty and Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
They welcomed growing momentum in economic, investment, and trade ties, especially following the launch of the first phase of the Alam El Roum project. They also welcomed an agreement to launch the first round of negotiations on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between Egypt and Qatar in October 2026, aimed at promoting economic integration and benefiting the two countries' peoples.
The two sides praised the regular convening of the joint committee, as well as the level of coordination and consultations between the two countries on regional and international issues and their joint efforts to de-escalate tensions and promote stability in the region.
