Dakar:The Egyptian delegation participating in the 18th Dakar International Book and Educational Materials Fair (FILDAK) has donated a collection of books to Senegal's Ministry of Culture. This initiative aims to support Senegalese libraries and enhance access to Egyptian intellectual and literary works among Senegalese readers.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the donation marked the conclusion of Egypt's participation as the guest of honor at the fair. During this event, the official Egyptian delegation held a consultative meeting with Senegalese Minister of State for Culture, Creative Industries and Historical Heritage, Mame Coumba Diop. The discussions focused on ways to build on the success of Egypt's participation and to strengthen cultural cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting emphasized implementing the memorandum of understanding signed between Egypt and Senegal through joint cultural activities and programs. These initiatives are intended to build on the outcomes of Egypt's participation in the fair and to open new avenues for cultural and artistic exchange. Key areas of cooperation discussed included co-publishing, reciprocal translation, exchange of intellectual property rights, and sharing expertise and training through mutual visits in arts and culture.

Additionally, the talks covered enhancing participation in international events related to sculpture, painting, Arabic calligraphy, poetry, and other disciplines. There was also discussion on providing technical support and expertise in printing and publishing, with a focus on Arabic-language publishing, boosting Senegal's participation in African Film Week, and exploring the possibility of dedicating a week to Senegalese cinema during the event.

Further discussions included organizing joint art exhibitions accompanied by training workshops in various disciplines such as textile art, ceramics, and mosaic. These efforts aim to facilitate the exchange of artistic expertise and create opportunities for artists from both countries to connect and collaborate.

The meeting reflects the commitment to translate the momentum generated by Egypt's participation as guest of honor at the Dakar International Book and Educational Materials Fair into sustainable cooperation programs. These initiatives are expected to strengthen Egyptian-Senegalese cultural ties, promote Egyptian culture across Africa, and open new avenues for exchange in books, publishing, translation, arts, and cinema.
