Transport Minister Witnesses MoU Signing for Dekheila Logistics Hub

Alexandria:Transport Minister Kamel El-Wazir witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Alexandria Port Authority, Hassan Allam Utilities, and Al Tariq Capital to explore the establishment, development, and operation of a logistics hub at Dekheila Port.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the MoU aims to create an integrated regional and international distribution, re-export, and value-added logistics hub covering 273,008 square meters in Dekheila Port's western hinterland. The agreement was signed by Alexandria Port Authority Chairman Ehab Salah El-Din and Hassan Allam Utilities Chairman Amr Allam.

Minister El-Wazir stated that the MoU aligns with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives to enhance Egypt's position as a regional hub for transport and logistics, maximizing the use of the country's strategic location and port assets. The initiative supports the Transport Ministry's plan to develop ports and strengthen private-sector partnerships in investment and service projects.

The project is expected to attract investment in logistics activities at Dekheila Port by providing integrated services, including storage, cargo handling, and light manufacturing. These services aim to add value to traded goods, improve services for exporters and importers, and integrate Egyptian ports into global supply chains.

El-Wazir emphasized the importance of expanding logistics hubs as part of the ministry's strategy to transform Egyptian ports into integrated trade and logistics centers. He urged all parties to expedite the preparation and signing of the terms and conditions agreement to advance the project's implementation.

Amr Allam highlighted that transport and logistics are crucial to Hassan Allam Holding's investment strategy, aiming to improve cargo movement efficiency and market access. The Dekheila Port hub is intended to support efficient and competitive supply chains through value-added logistics services.
