Amman: President of the Jordan Society of Tourism and Travel Agents (JSTA) Mahmoud al Khasawneh asserted that Egypt remains one of the most attractive destinations for Jordanian travelers throughout the year due to its diverse tourism offerings, rich history, and ease of access via land, sea, and air routes, with daily flights connecting Amman and Cairo.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Khasawneh explained that the primary reasons Jordanians travel to Egypt include vacations, visits to archaeological sites, and exploring different cultures. He noted the growing interest in new forms of tourism that Egypt has begun to offer competitively in recent years.
He said that the average stay for a Jordanian tourist in Egypt ranges between four and six nights, depending on the itinerary and visitor interests. Khasawneh pointed out that school and university holiday seasons in Jordan represent peak periods for outbound travel, as most Jordanian trips are family-oriented, especially during religious holidays and long breaks such as the three-month summer vacation.
He emphasized that Sharm El Sheikh and Taba top the list of preferred destinations for Jordanian tourists, while around 15% of Jordanian visitors head to Luxor and Aswan to explore historical and archaeological sites.
