Cairo: The President of Egypt, the President of Cyprus, and the Prime Minister of Greece convened in Al-Alamein for the Trilateral Summit, reaffirming their commitment to enhancing peace, security, and prosperity in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East. The leaders emphasized the importance of addressing regional and international challenges through joint efforts and cooperation.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the summit highlighted the significance of ongoing consultation and coordination among the three nations, building on the successes of the Trilateral Cooperation Mechanism initiated in Cairo in 2014. The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to resolving disputes through political and diplomatic means and stressed the importance of respecting state sovereignty and international law.

The summit also addressed the Cyprus issue, supporting efforts for a comprehensive settlement within the United Nations framework. The leaders reiterated their support for the Palestinian people's legitimate rights and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, emphasizing the need for humanitarian aid to reach Gaza.

The leaders expressed their support for Lebanon's stability and sovereignty, calling for the cessation of attacks against Lebanon and the strengthening of Lebanese state institutions. On Libya, they underscored the importance of a Libyan-led political process and the withdrawal of foreign forces.

Energy security was identified as a key pillar of trilateral cooperation, with aspirations to develop electricity interconnection projects and strengthen cooperation in the natural gas sector. The summit also emphasized the importance of water security, particularly concerning the Nile River, and called for cooperation and adherence to international law regarding transboundary water resources.

Economic, trade, and investment cooperation were also topics of discussion, with encouragement for private sector partnerships to foster sustainable growth and job creation. The leaders highlighted the need for a balanced approach to irregular migration and the enhancement of the strategic partnership between Egypt and the European Union.

The summit concluded with a commitment to further strengthen the Trilateral Cooperation Mechanism and operationalize a Permanent Secretariat in Lefkosia, aiming to translate political consensus into tangible projects. The leaders expressed appreciation for Egypt's hospitality and looked forward to continuing their efforts at the next summit in Cyprus.
