Cairo: Egypt is making strategic moves to secure over $1 billion in investments for a pioneering green energy and data center project in Sinai. Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid Saleh highlighted the nation's ambition to become a regional leader in clean energy and advanced technology during discussions with Renergy Group representatives about a proposed project in El Tor, Sinai.According to State Information Service Egypt, the project aims to integrate green hydrogen production, solar energy generation, and battery storage. Additionally, it includes plans for a hyperscale data center powered entirely by renewable energy. The initiative is expected to produce up to 400,000 tons of green hydrogen annually, targeting European markets in two phases, with an initial production capacity of 160,000 tons.Investors have also proposed creating a global data center with investments nearing $1 billion. The development will commence on a 10,000-square-meter site, with plans to expand to approxima tely 500,000 square meters, positioning it as one of the largest facilities of its kind in the region.Saleh emphasized the necessity of a comprehensive technical and financial proposal, in collaboration with relevant authorities, to ensure the project aligns with international standards and is successfully executed.
