Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty held a phone call on Monday, May 11, 2026, with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to discuss bilateral relations between Egypt and Turkey and explore ways to further enhance cooperation across various fields.
According to State Information Service Egypt, during the call, the two ministers reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing joint cooperation and elevating bilateral ties in a way that would serve the common interests of the two nations and fulfill the aspirations of their peoples for development and prosperity.
The conversation also addressed ongoing efforts to reduce regional tensions. The two sides reviewed the latest developments regarding the negotiation track between the US and Iran, emphasizing the importance of supporting diplomatic negotiations.
They further stressed that dialogue and diplomatic solutions remain the only viable path toward de-escalation and ending conflicts in the region. The Egyptian and Turkish foreign ministers voiced hope that all parties would adopt responsible and prudent stands, relying fully on diplomacy to resolve disputes peacefully.
