Cairo: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly emphasized that the industrial sector is a crucial engine for economic growth, alongside agriculture, tourism, and information and communications technology, highlighting the State’s reliance on the industry’s potential.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the Prime Minister made these remarks during a tour to inaugurate and inspect several factories in Sadat City, Menofia Governorate, and 6th of October City, Giza Governorate, accompanied by Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem. Menofia Governor Amr el-Ghareeb and Giza Governor Ahmed el-Ansary joined the prime minister in their respective cities.
Madbouly explained that the government has made significant efforts to establish the necessary infrastructure to support and enhance the industrial sector. This includes providing essential production inputs, raw materials, and removing challenges that industries face. The initiatives aim to localize and stimulate industry in collaboration with the private sector, boost local investments, and attract foreign and Arab investments, transforming Egypt into a regional industrial hub.
The prime minister expressed the government’s confidence in the private sector’s vital role in economic development. He emphasized the need to maximize its contribution to various economic activities, generate job opportunities, promote exports, and reduce the import bill.
Meanwhile, Industry Minister Khaled Hashem noted that the prime minister’s tour showcased factories producing a range of products that exemplify successful Egyptian national industry models. These factories demonstrate real capabilities in localizing industry and supporting local products.
In Sadat City, a new soft drinks factory is set for inauguration, enhancing Egypt’s food industries sector. The tour also included inspecting expansions at a factory manufacturing electrical cables, featuring a high- and low-voltage cable production line. The factory is a key player in supporting the infrastructure of national projects, crucial for the electricity, energy, housing, and industry sectors.
In 6th of October City, the tour covered industries producing various items, including glue and adhesives, household detergent powder, automotive parts, welded and drawn steel pipes, metal lighting poles, and electrical components. These industries are pivotal in supporting national industry and localizing modern technology components, particularly in the iron and steel sector. They also create job opportunities for Egyptian youth, boosting national projects, local production, and Egyptian exports.
