Aswan: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty and his Sudanese counterpart Muhi el Din Salem have affirmed their complete rejection of any unilateral actions concerning the Nile River. The statement came during a meeting held on the sidelines of the fifth edition of the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development, currently underway in Aswan, Upper Egypt.According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty and Salem emphasized the unified stance of Egypt and Sudan as downstream countries of the Nile River. They highlighted the importance of adhering to international law within the Eastern Nile Basin. During the meeting, Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's commitment to facilitating a ceasefire and humanitarian truce in Sudan to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people. He affirmed Egypt's solidarity with Sudan, supporting its stability, security, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national institutions.The Egyptian Foreign Minister also expressed antici pation for the second Egypt-Sudan Business Forum, slated for later in 2025, and commended the ongoing preparations for joint trade committee meetings in Cairo. Additionally, he mentioned hosting a delegation from Sudan's Ministry of Investment to share Egyptian expertise in investment. Abdelatty reviewed efforts in reconstructing and developing Khartoum's infrastructure, such as the project to repair the Helfaya and Shambat bridges. He also expressed Egypt's readiness to aid in rehabilitating Sudan's electricity, water, health, and education sectors.The Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development, inaugurated by Abdelatty, is a two-day event themed "A World in Flux, A Continent in Motion."
