Abu dhabi: The Egyptian Intellectual Property Authority (EGIPA) participated in the 2025 International Exhibition for Marketing Research Outputs, which was held under the theme 'Accelerating Innovation and Linking Research Outputs to Economic Needs.' The event was convened under the patronage of the President of the Republic and attended by the Prime Minister. Organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research through the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, the exhibition took place on December 11-12 at the New Administrative Capital.
According to State Information Service Egypt, during the event, Head of the Egyptian Intellectual Property Authority Hisham Azmy delivered a keynote address titled 'Global Patent Systems and Innovation Governance. and EGIPA's Role in Supporting the National Ecosystem.' The address was attended by representatives from universities, research centers, entrepreneurs, and innovation experts from Egypt and several other countries.
In his remarks, Azmy highlighted the rapid acceleration of global innovation, noting that international patent filings reached record levels in 2024. He emphasized the reliance of economically advanced countries on intellectual property protection to enhance competitiveness, attract investment, and transform scientific knowledge into economic value.
Azmy also pointed out Egypt's progress in the Global Innovation Index, reflecting national efforts to support scientific research and improve the innovation environment. He noted Cairo's inclusion among the world's top 100 global innovation clusters, underscoring the potential of Egyptian researchers and scientific institutions.
The speech further highlighted the role of the National Intellectual Property Strategy, launched under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in developing the legislative framework and unifying IP-related entities. The establishment of EGIPA was described as a historic step toward building an integrated system capable of providing advanced services to researchers, entrepreneurs, and innovators.
