Deputy PM for Industrial Development Meets U.S. Deputy Secretary of State to Enhance Bilateral Cooperation

Cairo: Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel Al-Wazir met U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fields of industry and transport. The meeting aimed to bolster the strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States, focusing on collaborative projects and investments.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Al-Wazir highlighted the ongoing collaboration with U.S. companies in railway projects, mentioning partnerships with General Electric, Progress Rail, Honeywell, and Hill International for high-speed rail and monorail projects. He emphasized the presence of U.S. factories in Egypt and extended an invitation to American investors to expand their operations, particularly in maritime transport, renewable energy, automotive, and infrastructure sectors.

The minister also pointed out the opportunities available in Egypt's 19 commercial ports, stressing the potential for managing and operating key terminals in Port Said, Alexandria, Sokhna, Safaga, and Bernice, many of which are linked to the high-speed rail network. He underscored Egypt's favorable investment climate and the government's commitment to supporting industrial growth.

Deputy Secretary Landau expressed appreciation for the depth of U.S.-Egypt relations and reaffirmed America's interest in expanding economic and industrial cooperation. He highlighted successful American projects in Egypt and emphasized the importance of sectors such as renewable energy, automotive, technology, and port operations.
